Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot usually be disclosed without written permission. You can generally expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. State law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the followin g situations: when a person is (1) an imminent danger to himself/herself or others, and (2) instances of abuse and neglect. Court, legal proceedings, medical emergencies, insurance, and billing services may also require release of information within the normal limits of standard practice.
